Everything you need to get Archive Master running, solve common issues, and reach us. Archive Master is a fully offline, App Sandboxed macOS utility — most questions are answered right here.
Getting Started
Install & Launch
Download Archive Master from the Mac App Store (macOS 13.0 or later). It installs as a Universal binary — no extra runtimes or command-line tools required.
Compress
Drop files or folders onto the Home tab (or use Select Files / Select Folder), pick an output format and compression level, then press Compress. Watch throughput live.
Extract
Drop any supported archive onto the app, or use the Explorer tab to browse inside archives before extracting. Multi-part and split archives are supported.
Finder Right-Click Menu
Enable the Finder extension under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Extensions (or Finder’s Settings → Extensions) to compress or extract directly from the right-click menu.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. All compression and extraction happens locally on your Mac inside the App Sandbox. The only network connection the app makes is Apple’s StoreKit, and only when you browse or buy themes in the Theme Store.
Which formats are supported?
Creation: ZIP, 7-Zip, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, XZ, Zstandard, LZ4, LZIP, Brotli, and CRC. Extraction: over 70 formats including RAR, AR, CAB, ISO, LHA, multi-part and split archives (.001, .r00, .z01, .part1.rar).
Extraction failed — what now?
The app shows a specific error (password required, disk space, unsupported format, or damaged archive). Your source archive is never deleted on failure — check the error banner, free disk space, or try a password if the archive is encrypted.
I bought a theme — how do I restore it?
Open Theme Store → Restore Purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID; restoring on any Mac you own re-unlocks them. Theme purchases are one-time, non-consumable purchases.
Can I drag files OUT of Archive Master?
Yes — open the Explorer tab and drag any file or folder out to the Desktop or any Finder window.
Does it run on Intel Macs?
Yes. Archive Master ships as a Universal binary (Apple Silicon + Intel) and requires macOS 13.0 or later. Performance telemetry and the benchmark are tuned for Apple Silicon.
